KPLU is holding a meeting for public comments on its sale to KUOW tomorrow at the Westin Hotel in Seattle. The station’s Community Advisory Council will meet at 2:00 PM in the Pike Room. There will be a lot of people weighing in, mostly opposed to the deal. Turn out to show your support for the KPLU staff, who all stand to be out of work if this deal goes ahead as planned. The argument that the two stations are overlapping and redundant doesn’t wash: KPLU has quality local news and information, something KUOW lacks, and it isn’t clear what 24 hour jazz station would include. KUOW only added blues to its survey when hundreds made it clear the weekend program All Blues is their #1 radio program. If you can’t be there, you can still comment on KUOW’s online survey.
