A song from 1930 about a woman in an apparently abusive relationship. Needless to say, a little sensitive for the mainstream at the time. It’s hard to find credit for the song, but it might have been a collaboration between Bessie Mae Smith and Roosevelt Sykes. The vocals are Smith (“St. Louis Bessie”, not to be confused with Bessie Smith, “Empress of the Blues”) and Sykes (“The Honeydripper”) is on the piano. The woman of the song could be any one of many.
