Welcome to SeaBlues, blues news and reviews from the northwest. Seattle isn’t a great blues town right now. B.B. King bypassed it on his recent tour through the northwest, there’s only one club dedicated to the genre, national blues headliners draw modest crowds and there’s not even a Seattle “Blues Society,” something you’ll find in nearly every U.S. city with a strong music base. When I talk to people about the blues, they lump it with “jazz and blues” or even country, with little awareness of what the blues is about or its influence on contemporary music. One of the objectives of this blog will be to raise awareness in Seattle and keep the blues going there. It needs to be stirred from the dust and I believe I’ll dust my broom.
