Sheri Roberts Greimes is a local fixture with her vocal mixture of soulful blues and country. She doesn’t name any specific influences, but her sweet, powerful voice makes me think of Etta James. She writes her own music and is a consummate keyboardist. She wrote Bleeding Heart when she was 15, and has belted out the blues ever since.
Maybe more than anything, though, her music is an inspiration. She developed serious heart and lung conditions in 2012, but recovering and roaring back, releasing an EP in 2016 and her third album, Lightning Strikes Twice, last week. She’s won multiple awards from the Washington Blues Society’s Best Of the Blues, and she’s busy on the local circuit, playing at many venues in the area. Get out to see her. She’ll entertain you and move you.
