UW buying KPLU

More news on local radio. The University of Washington, owner of music station KEXP and news station KUOW, is going to purchase news and jazz station KPLU from Pacific Lutheran University. KPLU will be all music now: The UW isn’t interested in having two news stations and NPR affiliates on its network. With a 24 hour music format, maybe they’ll expand blues programming. They already have All Blues on Saturday and Sunday nights, and a spattering in the daytime. Maybe John Kessler can lobby his new bosses?

Take a moment to share your feedback on the KUOW FAQ. Add “Blues” to “varieties of jazz,” and in the comment box, write “Keep John Kessler.” Best blues programming in the Northwest.
