A deal on the Amazon Cloud that I can’t pass up. For $20 a year, I have 20GB data storage, unlimited music storage, and access to the cloud player. Nice to have another backup of my music library, and 20 gigs is more than enough to back up my data. The cloud player has good quality sound, as good as you’d expect from your device, but it won’t replace my Sansa Clip. Still, I’ve used it a few times while recharging.
I buy my music from the Amazon MP3 store, and my purchases are automatically stored on the cloud. They can be downloaded from the player. Amazon provides a downloader app for most systems, but for Linux they’re woefully out of date. The one provided for openSUSE is for version 11.1, which was discontinued over a year ago! There are several Linux apps that provide support for this, though, including Banshee, Amarok and Pymazon.
It’s web-based, and the only system requirement is the Flash player. I’ve had problems with Flash in Firefox on my Linux machine recently and I’m using Chromium for this purpose instead. No problems with FF in Windows. Amazon has a good reputation for cross-platform support (i.e., Linux), and this reaffirms it.
Greetings from Idaho! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to check out your site on my iphnoe during lunch break. I enjoy the information you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m amazed at how quick your blog loaded on my cell phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, excellent blog!
