SaveKPLU! is halfway to it’s $7M goal. Over 9000 people have donated, and at this rate, the June 30th deadline will easily be met. Doing your income taxes and looking for deductions? Friends of 88-5 is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization!
KPLU, owned until recently by Pacific Lutheran University, has tentatively been sold to the UW to be merged with its other two radio stations. There’s been a lot of public clamor about this, with the loss of KPLU’s news programming being the leading concern. Friends of KPLU organized a drive to save the station as an independent, community-owned and driven radio station. A fund drive began in December, and will run until June 30th with a goal of $7M. With 2½ months remaining, it’s within reach.
