If you’re up to a Sunday night shindig, Smokin’ Joe Kubek & Bnois King will be bringing their jazzy Texas blues style to the Highway 99. It’s been a while since they’ve visited Seattle, four or five years I’d say, so this is a rare chance to catch them. Their February release, Fat Man’s Shine Parlor, though not their best, is getting positive reviews.
The great Javiva Magness is returning in April. She’ll be playing two shows, on the 21st and 22nd at the Jazz Alley. If you didn’t catch her last month, definitely do so this time. Her soulful voice and original music make her one of the most preeminent contemporary artists of the genre.
