$1 million

Radio station KPLU has passed $1 million in its drive to be a public owned station. Great news, but it’s far from over. They need to raise $7M by June 30th to make an offer to PLU. It’s off to a good start. If you haven’t already, make your own pledge to keep this drive alive. KPLU is a great source of news, jazz and blues, and KUOW, the tentative buyer, would scrap the news service and make it an all music station. What would happen to programs such as the outstanding All Blues on Saturday and Sunday is up in the air. All DJs, including John Kessler, would be required to re-apply for their jobs, if these jobs still exist. KPLU has been very successful with its existing format. Now it’s up to us as listeners to see that it remains so.
