Black Joe Lewis will be back in Seattle this week, playing one night at Neumos on Thursday. I haven’t heard his Backlash album all the way through yet, but it’s getting a lot of playtime on the radio, and he’s returned to the blues funk tone of his first two albums. Electric Shave was hard funk. He also dropped “The Honeybears” from his moniker on that one, although there were no changes in his band. It was an indication of a new direction. That didn’t go so well, so he’s back to the original name and the genre that made blues fans like myself excited. Show at 8:00 PM, tickets $18 in advance.
