Gregg Allman‘s death is a sad moment, but he left behind a legacy in blues and rock exceeded by none. With his brother Duane Allman and The Allman Brothers Band, he redefined the blues in the 60s and up to Duane’s death, then brought the southern rock genre that pleased crowds in the 70s. Whipping Post was the their breakthrough song, written by Gregg just as Duane was becoming disheartened and ready to give up his music career. Things really took off from there.
