The northwest was represented at the Blues Music Awards this week: Curtis Salgado and Robert Cray were among the winners at the show in Memphis, Curtis for Soul Blues Male Artist and Robert for Soul Blues Album (Robert Cray & Hi Rhythm). It’s the second year in a row Curtis has received the award, and his resilience keeps his legend growing in the great northwest.
Another blues great who’s bounced back from a life-threatening situation, Walter Trout, was acknowledged for his Rock Blues Album We’re All In This Together. Confronting death, and winning, has to be the ultimate blues experience. When Walter and Curtis sing, you know it’s from the soul.
