Before forming Led Zeppelin in 1968, Jimmy Page was a session guitarist with a stellar reputation. When Eric Clapton joined The Yardbirds, the two of them joined for some studio sessions that went unreleased until the Blues Anytime series (vols. 1, 2, 3) a few years later. Tribute To Elmore was the second most memorable song on Clapton’s History album, my first exposure to the blues. They’re short, down and dirty, and really present the onslaught of the British blues explosion.
