End of an era

After nearly half a century of sweet and skillful blues and roots music, the Allman Brothers Band are calling it a night. From their early days with Duane Allman on the guitar bringing out some of the most amazing blues rock of the era, to their southern rock brand in the 70s, to their return from turmoil from the 90s and on, they never failed in being among the best in their genre.

Four members of the band were listed among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time in 2003:

#2 Duane Allman
#23 Warren Haynes
#58 Dickey Betts
#81 Derek Trucks

With this and Gregg Allman doing vocals and keyboard, it will be a tough act to follow, but Devon Allman (son of Gregg) and Mike Zito might be up to it with the Royal Southern Brotherhood. For blues and southern rock fans, keep you’re eyes and ears open as they tour the continent. No stops in Seattle planned yet, but that could change this Summer.
