Weekend blues programming

Weekends bring some fine blues programming, starting with Breakfast With the Blues from KRVM in Eugene. Programming is from 5:30 AM to 9:00 AM (PDT) on Saturdays and 5:30 to 11:00 on Sundays. KRVM is owned by School District 4J in Lane County, OR, and was the first station in the Pacific Northwest licensed for the FM range reserved for education. “Breakfast” is also broadcast weekday mornings from 5:30 AM to 8:00 AM. The Roadhouse Podcast is released Saturday afternoons, and Tony Steidler-Dennison brings some of “the finest blues you’ve never heard” from Iowa City in America’s heartland. One hour long, you definitely will hear something new and Tony focuses mainly on contemporary blues, with a few classics mixed in. He mixes the songs well and with his deep plains voice he carries the program through extremely well. Subscriptions are available for higher quality audio and no ads. KPLU has All Blues, all night, with John Kessler on Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 to midnight. John plays a wide variety, he can go from Joe Bonamassa to Etta James but nothing’s lost in the transition. KPLU is an NPR station owned by Pacific Lutheran University and focuses on jazz and blues.
